SUMMER WARDROBE STAPLES

Hello hello, hope you’re all safe and doing ok? I thought I would try and get back to basics here on the blog and do a round-up of my summer wardrobe staples.

We had our first blast of summer here in the UK last week, which got me thinking about my summer wardrobe. Re-wearing a lot of last summer’s favourites that have stood the test of time.
Interestingly many of my favourite brands have remade this year, which I love. For example this super simple low back Arket dress that I wore so much last year.

I love a classic black, white or navy dress for summer in linen or cotton. For me, it's the pieces with minimal prints I usually go back to. As I mentioned the Arket low back dress is super comfy and something I wear each year. One dress I did buy this season was this panel COS dress made from eyelet-embroidered cotton. Simple but with an interesting fabric.

A basket bag is something that looks great with denim or the above-mentioned dresses and screams summer. Currently used for picking up groceries but next year it will be back to beach towels and suncream.Unfortunately, I  lost my favourite Gucci sunnies last year, they were a bit "out there" for me but I always have my Raybans on rotation regardless.

Every summer I usually swap my jeans for shorts. I love shorts, they just seem more practical if you're on the go or travelling around the city. I found the best pair of denim Mango shorts this year which are slightly wider/longer but I usually stick to a smarter tailored pair for work. However, a new addition for working from home - the wide sweatshirt shorts with drawstring waist.

Birkenstocks are my go-to every summer. They're not to everyone's taste but I can't resist a chunky sandal, last year I went for the Arizona Eva Black Flat Sandals which are a lightweight version. For a dressier shoe, I usually go for a barely-there sandal in a beige or white from ByFar or LOQ; something so timeless that goes with any summer dress.

Oversized linen shirts for throwing on over bikinis, tucked into trousers or loose over shorts.  White is a classic but I've seen some lovely ones this season in lemon or lilac. Check out 'With Nothing Underneath'. I also love COS for a statement cotton top to dress up shorts or a simple ribbed vest to wear with linen trousers.

Summer is my short departure from jeans 24/7. I still wear them in light wash blue or white but I love a linen trouser too. Wearing them more so in lockdown, when I'm not in tracksuit bottoms of course.

Bits that I can't live without in summer. A deep hair mask, during summer but especially in lockdown, I've been loving Beauty Pie repair mask but also worth trying, Philip Kingsly or Olaplex. Lightweight make up in the form of a tint or serum. My favourite red, Nars 'Luna' or Mac 'Lady Danger'.
