Somewhere in between the shirt and a jacket (refusing to say shacket) I first picked up my obsession back when spotting the amazing yellow Isabel Marant version at The Shop at Bluebird. (see image at the bottom of this post) The one that got away. We were shooting some photography for the store’s social media when I tried it on but I couldn’t quite justify the £1000+ price tag.
Thanks to & Other Stories I’ve been filling that void. I’ve picked up two great checked oversized jackets from there this season. Pre Christmas it was the red lumber jacket-esque one. I love its boyish charm and looks great with all denim; always a bonus for me.
Most recently, the cream one picture above could be my all time favourite and perhaps better than any designer one I’ve seen. Slightly reminiscent of the Alex Chung / Chloe jacket… also on a once upon a time wishlist. I’ve been wearing it lots with my redone jeans and By Far brown boots.
The current weather situ means these jackets (mostly the red one) need some extra layering. Heat tech and hoodies I say. Great with a chunky knit underneath but equally light enough to wear a huge coat over top. I’m really excited to try styling this for spring too, I have an all-white outfit in mind that could look crazy but let’s see.
Which one is your favourite?

The one that got away but inspired the love affair with oversized jackets.
