POSTCARDS FROM NEW YORK

Welcome back to another instalment of New York city, if you're planning a trip in the near future of just fancy looking around the city, then my friends this post for you - a little round-up of all my favourites. I will also be pinning everything on my USA adventure Pinterest board. (check out the link at the end of the post) In the meantime, get yourself comfy - it's a long one.

CITIZEN M

Situated in none other than Time Square, it's safe to say this hotel is in a fantastic location. Getting Alicia Keys 'New York' Stuck in my head, it's a bit of a 'pinch me' moment walking through Times Square. Even in the hustle & bustle of Times Square, the hotel maintains a chilled out vibe and a quiet nights sleep. The lobby has been cunningly designed to feel like a homey living room and is filled with amazing books and magazines. The rooms are perfectly compact and have everything you need, my particular fave is the tablet that lets you control everything from room lighting to movies. A perfect stay for a long weekend in the city.Plus an easy 10-minute walk from all the main attractions, like central park which leads perfectly into my next section.

Things to do.

Disclaimer: This post could be the longest in history if I didn't try and combine some photographs. So I'm trying out the below carousel, let me know what you think.

A few of my favourite things to do in NYC.

Central Park is a must, all year round. The last time I ventured through the park it was deep under snow, so this year we enjoyed seeing it in all it's sunshine splendour. I even made Simon row me around the lake reciting lines from The Notebook.A first for me was walking across the bridge to Brooklyn Park, we checked out Jane's carousel,  St. Ann’s Warehouse, views of the Manhattan and of course the bridge. This is an area I will definitely be staying in next time we going to New York.

Smorgasburg Seaport was another amazing recommendation, with almost an old village feel, it's unlike any area I had previously seen in New York. Be sure to sample Home Frite Hand-cut fries.

Sprinkles

Now on to my favourite topic food. From cupcakes to pizza to every ice cream shop in NYC, we tried it all.I unashamedly hunted this Cupcake ATM down after spotting it on a few Instagram accounts. Yes, its a bit of a novelty. But it's pink. It's a vending machine and it gives you a delicious red velvet cupcake. Go!

By Chloe

America isn't all about burgers & pizza by the slice (as great as that is). By Chloe is a totally vegan menu featuring locally-sourced ingredients to create amazingly tasty dishes. We stopped by the restaurant in the west village and sampled the spicy Thai salad, mac and cheese and of course sweet potato fries. Yum.Note: There was a bit of a queue but it moves quite quickly.

Joe's Pizza

A trip to New York isn't complete without pizza served by the slice? Joe’s pizza is world-famous. Established in 1975 it’s walls are adorned with celebrity photographs all there to get a taste. One classic cheese and one Sicilian Square later - It didn’t disappoint.
