WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?

top-01-1.png

First up for 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' the beautiful Kate. You may knowher from Gh0stparties, (the reasonI spend far to much money on beauty products.) Not only is this an amazingsuccess but she’s went on to set up her own online magazine Nouvelle Daily. Like the beauty worldsversion of Alan Sugar I’m sure things are going to go big. So heres's what shehad to say about her experiences.
About Kate:
I'm a beauty lovin' girl living in Scotland. I moved back here after living inLondon for a year because (the rent is cheap) I wanted to create my own onlinemagazine which I had been working on for quite a few months.
Describe your style?
I guess I wear what suits me, what flattersmy shape and what seems to be on trend. I'm girly but with a bit of an edge andI don't say no to anything!
Whats your number one beauty tip?
Find skincare that suits your skintype.
An interesting fact?
I created my blog when I left uni and feltreally down about what I was doing with myself.
Education:
So where did it all begin?
I went to uni but after all those years ofeducation, I got bored.
Did you always know what you wanted to do?
Nope, I studied Forensic Science at uni andhad no idea about all the beauty jobs out there!
Would you do it all again? Or take adifferent route?
I would have got in to it quicker!
Kate is the proud owner of Gh0stparties, a must read for anyone; justtake a look at her pretty photography.
When and why did you decide to start ablog?
Almost three years ago, I had just moved toLeeds to get away for a bit and had no idea what I was doing with myself - Iwas working in beauty and wanted to channel my love a little more.

Experiences:
What helps put food on the table/clothes inyour wardrobe/beauty in the bag?
Budgeting! Most of my funds go straightback in to Nouvelle so I'm pretty careful with money, I allow myself to buywhatever makeup I need for upcoming features but I rarely buy clothes! They areseen as a rare treat.
Any tips on getting yourself that dreamjob?
Keep at it, make connections! Your blogworks like a CV, too.
You've got yourself a dream job. Tell us alittle about it?
I read something recently (after Nouvellewas underway) that said "your dream job doesn't exist, you have to createit" which is exactly what I did. I was in London trying to get experiencebut I couldn't be bothered with the route (of interning) to work for magazinesand I didn't think that's what I wanted to do anyway. Plus, I'm not the best atworking under others - I do things in my own time! I had the idea for Nouvelle last July and it went from there, I spent a lot of time designing the websiteand figuring out what we were actually going to do. I had never seen anythinglike what I wanted to do so it was hard.

Nouvelle is an online destination for allthings beauty and style related.stop destination for advice and news, reviewsand thoughts, latest collections and launches - as well as home and lifestyleinspiration and ideas.

What does a normal day entail?

Replying to emails! A lot of social media, planning features, getting back to people who wish to contribute, touching basewith PRs on new releases and also meeting with brands throughout theweek.
What has blogging enabled you to do?
Work from home!
What would you say to someone starting ablog?
Be original, always!
What do you hope for the future/'What doyou want to be when you grow up?'
Nouvelle to grow and grow, morecontributors and a huge audience!

Hope you all enjoyed this new feature andstay tuned, as the next one is already underway!

Let me know if there are any questionsyou’d like to know about getting that dream job or how you’ve found gettingone.
Big thank you to Kate foranswering the questions. Next time it will have to be a video to hearthe cutest accent on youtube!
