WHERE TO STAY IN CORNWALL: THE ARTIST RESIDENCE

Another long journey giving me the opportunity to start writing a blog post. This time on our mammoth commute from Cornwall. I could get used to this travel malarkey and getting the chance to start writing on the move. (My Cyprus post was also written on the move)

Last weekend we dodged the rain of London and struck it lucky with sunshine in Penzance. We are NEVER this lucky. Of course, there was only one place to stay for me, one of my favourites, The Artist Residence. I’ve slowly ticked off Brighton and London, and Cornwall didn’t disappoint.

Our room was perfectly formed and had the comfiest bed EVER. I could give or take the seagulls bright and breezy every morning but can’t complain about a bath in your bedroom and Tunnock's Milk Chocolate Caramel Wafers left in our room every day. Winner.

The decor is always great and this hotel also benefits from a cute garden which we tested out, accompanied by a local G & T and the most amazing gnocchi I’ve ever had.

Things we did.

The Jubilee swimming pool was unfortunately closed (we were a week too soon) but just check out this amazing Art Deco design. What I would give to plan a shoot here. You could be mistaken for somewhere tropical but this was just a short walk from our hotel.

We really benefited from having a car and Mousehole was a great visit. A quaint village situated just a short car journey from Penzance.  Make sure to visit Jelbert's ice cream shop and scones at Duke Street Cafe on the route in Newlyn.

Next stop Minack theatre. One of the worlds largest outdoor theatres and one of the most picturesque I've ever seen. Created by wonder women Rowena Cade in 1932. Well worth a visit.
